Per capita, do male or female pets go missing more frequently?
While it appears male pets go missing more frequently regardless of their fixed status, the data does not show the total amount of registered animals that are owned in Vancouver. The male percentages may be higher in the data we have, but that could be a result of more male pets being owned. It could be likely that female animals have a greater likelihood of going missing based on what percent of all owned pets are female.
Where Can I Get An Answer to My Question?:
My options for finding an answer to my question are many. I plan on contacting the City of Vancouver to ask directly how many male and female pets are registered. Beyond this, I could also reach out to the BC Pet Registry to see what insight they might provide. I have always hated the idea that one visualization tells an entire story, so I am hoping that one of these sources can tell me that per capita female pets have a greater likelihood of going missing.
